While we were renovating the kitchen, I had no idea how I intended to organize it. I was so overwhelmed with the process and all I could think about was getting the big picture things done. I was also afraid to buy any organizational items because I knew I’d have a better understanding with how the new kitchen functioned after at least a few weeks of living (and cooking!) in it. Now that we have completed the renovation and have cooked many meals, I think I have a good organization system down, and it’s working really well for us! Sharing below a few products & design choices that have really made a difference.
P.S. This post just highlights a few space-saving products. If. you’re looking for paint color details & to shop ALL other kitchen links, that page is here.
1. Sliding Adjustable Organizer, $18-$27
I use mine for pots & pans, but you can use it for food items, containers or dishes as well. Perfect if you have kitchen cabinets instead of drawers- the best of both worlds! I love how you can adjust the width custom to fit.
P.S. my pots & pans are linked here.
2. Pan Organizer, $22
I just use mine for lids, but if you have the vertical space you could use it for pans too.
3. Carbon Steel Griddle, $169
I got this for a partnership with Made In, (video here) the same maker as my pots & pans. At first I wasn’t sure I’d keep it because it took covered two burners and I had no place to store it, BUT after cooking on it once I was completely sold. Not only does it heat nicely and cook food evenly & well, it’s actually the most space-saving thing I own! I cook literally everything on it now- eggs, potatoes, bacon & toast for breakfast (I haven’t touched my toaster in weeks!), grilled cheese or sandwiches for lunch, stir fry or burgers for dinner- and only have one thing to clean instead of several. I love, love, love it!
4. Sponge & Brush Holder, $16.99
I love that this thing comes with the option to either mount if with suction cups or a clear adhesive so no matter what material your sink or backsplash is, it will be able to hold! Love that this both saves space on the edge of your sink and allows the sponge to dry.
5. Mounted Caddy, $13
This has been amazing back-of-cabinet-door storage for my dishwasher & laundry pods, but I think I may buy more for extra sponges too! Since my cabinets have the shaker trim, I had to mount mine with screws, but if you’re working with a flat surface you can use the command strips it comes with. Holds up to 10 lbs.
6. DIY Mounted Spice Shelves, various prices below
We made ours out of two pieces of 1×4 wood, routed with a nice edge & painted the same color as the cabinetry. Then we finished it with gallery rail (link to purchase). We mounted them with screws on the fridge panel from the inside, then filled it with these spice jars. Below I’ve linked some similar shelf concepts available to buy, tap the images to shop. The last one is a little different, but offers way more storage space as it slides open to reveal additional shelves inside!
